Some of you may know that every year I like to pick a word for myself. Something to represent the energy and goals that I have for myself for the coming year. I think it’s very important to think these things through carefully. My word for last year was “Soar” without knowing we would relocate. I think soar wound up meaning “fly the coop” as we left Colorado for California.

I remember very, very clearly at the end of 2020 being so happy that that year was about to be over and all the hope I had for 2021. If I had had any inkling of how 2021 would go, I think I would’ve tried to pull a “Rip Van Winkle” and gone back to bed to try and sleep through the entire year. As challenging as 2020 was for my family, 2021 was a whole new level of difficult. So once again I find myself saying “good riddance” and praying that 2022 will be the year where things really get a lot better.

The thing is… I’m struggling with what my word should be in the coming new year. I know what I want… I want balance and self-care. I also want creativity, motivation, and to accomplish a great deal. And I want life to be fun as a whole. I want to look back at 2022 a year from now and think “Wooo-weee! What a fun year that was!”

How do you put all of that into a single word?

So… I’m coming to you. Help an angel-boy out, okay? What do you think my word for 2022 should be? And also, what is your word for 2022 (if you have one?) Maybe we can share words!

In the meantime, I’d like to wish everyone on planet earth a Happy New Year. I think my favorite thing about this holiday is that it’s one of the few where the entire world participates. I don’t have to type a caveat like “for those in the US.” That digit at the end of the year is changing for everyone. So dear planet Earth… Happy New Year! May this be the one we’ve been waiting for.

Throwing confetti and glitter your way,
~Radleigh

The Sprinter’s Spiritual Lesson

Looking back, I cannot recall a time where my life has been so much about learning about myself.  Why don’t we do this when we’re young? It would save us so much time and trouble! We could make such better choices if we were just taught to “know thyself.” One of the...

Holding Hope Without Holding on Too Tight

I have a question for you. How does one balance holding hope in your heart without also creating a powerful attachment to the outcome? Seriously, I’m asking. To me, this is a spiritual highwire act.  Hope and optimism are powerful manifestors. They bring our heart’s...

The Stuff That’s Hidden

I recently got back from a visit to the city I was born and raised in. My sister and her family still reside in Knoxville, Tennessee and I hadn’t been back there in years. But one of my nieces and my nephew have been “fruitful and multiplied” so I had three babies to...

The Unsuspecting Expert

I’ve been doing a lot of “nest feathering” in my little French cottage here in Colorado.  That’s been a whole other kind of fascinating for me as I have been drawn to colors and textures and artsy things that frankly astonish me.   My inner “introspection addict” is...

Life is Sooo Good

I talk to myself. I do it all the time. I’ve been working from home since 2001, so I had chalked it up to spending a lot of time in quiet spaces. But, I’m also starting to wonder if it’s more than that. That maybe… just maybe… sometimes me talking to myself is...
