Some of you may know that every year I like to pick a word for myself. Something to represent the energy and goals that I have for myself for the coming year. I think it’s very important to think these things through carefully. My word for last year was “Soar” without knowing we would relocate. I think soar wound up meaning “fly the coop” as we left Colorado for California.
I remember very, very clearly at the end of 2020 being so happy that that year was about to be over and all the hope I had for 2021. If I had had any inkling of how 2021 would go, I think I would’ve tried to pull a “Rip Van Winkle” and gone back to bed to try and sleep through the entire year. As challenging as 2020 was for my family, 2021 was a whole new level of difficult. So once again I find myself saying “good riddance” and praying that 2022 will be the year where things really get a lot better.
The thing is… I’m struggling with what my word should be in the coming new year. I know what I want… I want balance and self-care. I also want creativity, motivation, and to accomplish a great deal. And I want life to be fun as a whole. I want to look back at 2022 a year from now and think “Wooo-weee! What a fun year that was!”
How do you put all of that into a single word?
So… I’m coming to you. Help an angel-boy out, okay? What do you think my word for 2022 should be? And also, what is your word for 2022 (if you have one?) Maybe we can share words!
In the meantime, I’d like to wish everyone on planet earth a Happy New Year. I think my favorite thing about this holiday is that it’s one of the few where the entire world participates. I don’t have to type a caveat like “for those in the US.” That digit at the end of the year is changing for everyone. So dear planet Earth… Happy New Year! May this be the one we’ve been waiting for.
Throwing confetti and glitter your way,
~Radleigh
Happy Birthday Rad!
Well, Happy Birthday to me. It’s a rare thing that blog day falls on my birthday, so I guess I should make a big whoop-dee-do over it. The problem is, I’m not particularly a big birthday person. With Lee’s job, it makes it very difficult to celebrate. He hasn’t been...

Hi beautiful soul
I think your word for the New Year should be ‘Manifestation’. I think it’s a word that can help you to achieve everything you want for the new year.
I myself don’t have a word yet. But I’m thinking on it
Love and light to you always

Wonderment is the word that I think you should use for next year. If you think of everything that we’ve been through in 2020 and 2021, it has made us all a little jaded and we look at the world through foggy colored glasses. Everything is dark. Now is a time for getting back to that childhood innocence when you look at the world where everything is wow. Everything is sparkly. Everything is new. Everything is wonderful. So you would look around your life in wonderment of all the amazing blessings. Instead of focusing on all the stress. My word for next year is going to be intention because I want to focus on living in a more intentional life. I want to focus on what is taking my energy. Where am I putting my energy? What is taking my energy? And being more intentional about what is taking my energy. My time is precious and I need to be more mindful of where it’s going. Am I spending it on things to make my life better? Am I letting myself get sucked into drama that’s not mine? Even if the drama is mine I don’t have to wallow in it.
Hi Radleigh, for your word of the year, one that sort of comes to mind is ‘Encompass’….
A very Happy New Year to you, whatever word you choose to represent it!
I think your word should be “bloom”.
I think that you have said the word yourself – fun. Let life be fun, no matter what comes along. Be free with the fun. Toss it around a lot. I’m not sure where you are actually living at in California but I have covered a lot of that state. Have fun driving up to the Coastal Redwoods and relax in the peaceful groves of those magnificent trees. Visit Lake Tahoe and enjoy the beauty of that area. The giant Sequoias in King’s Canyon are beyond belief. And those are just some of the areas to relax and just have fun exploring. And then there is the magical Disneyland for the fun that can’t be described. Knots Berry Farm isn’t to bad either.
As for the rest of us I think that is a good word as well. We have all been dwelling on what is negative and how to deal with everything going on. Now is the time to just go out and have fun. Race around in a warm summer rain. Make snow angels. Walk along a beach at dawn or dusk and play in the water. Play fetch with your dog or pretend to do that with your cat. Just have FUN!
And as to saying I’m glad 2021 is over – well I haven’t done that since my husband passed in 2013. Instead I treasure all the moments, no matter how difficult, that each year has handed to me. I have begun to live by Louise Hay’s affirmation ” I am grateful for all the experiences this year has brought me and look forward to all the blessings yet to come”.
So to you dear Radleigh and everyone else here is to a Happy Fun New Year.

The word that comes to my mind is Blessed.
I agree with Barbara “Fun” is a nice word for 2022.
Although my thoughts take me to “Fearless.”
I am also hoping that life will bring more fun but I am feeling as though the universe is planning something big for us all and that we must all be fearless enough to listen and follow our guidance. My intuition is on the lookout, for what I don’t know but I’m listening and watching.
Or maybe the word should be expectation. exp vying the best …
My word for you is “explosion “. When you look at the definitions, they are usually violent and destructive meanings. I see, for you an explosion of love, light, and so much to share that you are bursting all year!
And I thought I was the only one who came up with the concept of having a “Word for the Year!” Good morning Radleigh. This letter is long overdue as you have inspired me from the first time I saw you on stage at a Hay House event, over a decade ago. You were sharing the stage with Doreen and yet for me, you were center stage all by yourself. You just have an energy that is as playful and light as it is thoughtful and heartfelt. I admired that about you then, as I do now.
Fast forward and I found myself in your Angel Tarot Card Reading class a couple of weeks ago, again full of light. I am so happy to have reconnected with you, as I need (as we all do) more light, happy, joyful energy.
That said, let’s get back to your email…The Word of 2022. As I started this, I truly thought I was the most original person to ever come up with “The Word” idea, and it has been part of my retreats that I host, for years. I buy a wooden letter of the first name of the person at my retreat, so for me, it would be an “M”. Then everyone has a full array of paint colors and they paint (in their favorite color) their “word” on the letter to keep at their desk, or wherever, as a reminder of their commitment to that word. In the past mine have been; Grace, Fearless, Kind… but not this year. No, this year is probably the most significant as we have not had a time like this in our lifetimes. 2 years of indescribable craziness, that no one could have predicted, nor would have believed could have lasted this long.
That said…this year’s word really matters. So, like you, I have been thinking about this word for a long time as January 1st is rapidly approaching. Your email was the catalyst for me to pick one and commit to letting nothing get in the way of it…NO MATTER WHAT!
Thus, my word is: BLISS. And here’s why:
Bliss: “To reach a state of perfect happiness, typically so as to be oblivious of everything else.”
It’s not the perfect happiness that I’m drawn to as we then have to have a discussion around perfect…but the fact that BLISS is oblivious of everything else…is it! To find pure joy REGARDLESS of external circumstances is crucial for next year for me. I have allowed WAY too many external factors to control me.
I see that you just moved to California (probably the only person moving IN and not OUT!) I would be one of those who moved out. I just moved from Southern California to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I had to get away from all of the craziness and get back to me. So here we both are in new locations, making a go of it. Cheers to new beginnings!
I do hope you find your new home one of peace and happiness. Most importantly I wish for both of us (and everyone) a true sense of Bliss as we come into 2022 and whatever it may bring…to maintain our inner state of Bliss, oblivious of everything else!
Thank you for who you are…don’t ever dim your light!
Michelle Dutro
Joy!!!
Joy in creating
Joy in being oneself
Joy in all things
Joy!!! Joy!!
I’ve chosen 2 words – I don’t do resolutions – for 2022.
For myself – Metamorphosis: change in personal appearance & lifestyle. To lose that pesky 20lbs that’s making my diabetes harder to control, to exercise regularly and to take pride in my appearance. I’m 75 and it’s never too late.
For my surroundings – Revamping: the act of making a difference in surroundings. I’m getting to the point of not being able to do the landscape work, so making monthly plans to redo. The interior of my home no longer makes me feel at peace, comfortable and happy. Will simplify, paint in soothing colors and make it my sanctuary with new or repurposed decor.
This coming year will be good, I will be happier and more productive. I will do what I want to do and when I want to do it. I can no longer be what others want me to be – I’ve done that way too long. 2022 is the year of me, and I will continue that till I reach my expiration date.
My word next year is “peace,” followed by “create.” I created a move last year but still waiting on closing for the house next month. After all the ups and downs of this year I could use a break! Actually I think we all could!
Possibilities
Dear Magical Radleigh.
Thank you very much for all the wise and encouraging words in 2021.My word för 2022 is: HAPPY.May be Happy is the word for your 2022 too.
I wish you the most Happy year ever!
Kristina
The first word that came to mind, (thank you to my guardian angels and guardian dragons), is CONNECTION. That feeling of reaching out and to find the most meaningful people, places and other beings to bring closer to my soul. I have felt isolated in 2021 hiding at home, even from my husband right in the same home. It maybe that I have both my sons and their partners plus two grand cats together in my little house for the first time in 2 years. I feel such joy. I want to continue this feeling of joy.
Radleigh, you have so many loving connections throughout the world. I know you feel the love from your fans as well as the gratitude I certainly feel to you for opening the world of Angels to me. I agree with Barbara. Explore to natural wonders around you in California. I would love to tour you around Lake Tahoe or take you to Lassen National Park or even out into the Nevada desert. Yosemite is magical as are the Redwoods both Sequoia and coastal redwoods in the Humboldt forest. The beauty is never ending. Go have fun, you and Lee deserve it!
My word for next year is “Happiness” I believe it covers everything Fun, Purpose, Good health, Passion etc
How about SOURCE or healing for your word choice? perhaps the angels will send you your next word?
I think the word for 2022 should be Dreamer as this is the card I pulled for you on the launching of your new deck Guardian Angel Messages.Just as it says This is a joyful time for new beginnings when you make bold changes in you life.As was the move from Colorado to California. It’s just like card says in additional meaning Going after your most heartfelt desires and Loving life
May I suggest “Rhythm” to address both goals of self-care and fun? Because you can slow the tempo from time to time, but it’s always going—and you can boogie to it! 🙂
For me, I sought to find a 2022 word that would address my goals for cooperating with others and self-expression. Funny enough, I came up with another musical term—Harmony!
Thank YOU, Radleigh, for being a light in this world, an uptempo, steady beat. Wishing you and your family the best fun in 2022.
The word that keeps coming to me is “freedom “. This I believe means freedom from negative thoughts, freedom from toxic everything, and freedom to live life within a divine calling. Thanks for all you give. Have a dazzling, sparkly, new year!
Well, I’m 85 years on this beautiful planet so I’ve seen many a year pass into the next.
No matter what I would like to give a name Raleigh, 2022 will bring its ups and downs…………….since I was 51 years I’ve had to learn to accept a chronic illness, that’s 34 years of “not wanting my life to be this way”………the word comes to mind as I type this –
ACCEPTANCE – I do keep away from negatives as much as possible but when they do arise I will still learn to accept and move on. We all have until the 1st day of January to find our special word……….here’s the other one the angels just whispered to me ………….THANK YOU!
Love to all of you and THANK YOU Raleigh for the joy you share with me and others.
I got chills as I read this. I started picking a word for each year in 2012 when I committed to training. Sadly in 2014, I had to let go of training and a business I had built because of health issues. My entire life changed. Choosing The word was like a corner stone for me because no amount of illness could take what the word meant to me. I found some years I wasn’t ready to let go of the word, and more lessons were needed, so I carried the word believe and hope forward for many years. . My word for 2021 was courage. I knew I needed it to face not only the changes we are experiencing in the world as we knew it, but it was also time to embrace the changes unfolding in my own life. Through courage I found myself craving creative outlet and exploring my spiritual gifts again. I wanted to write, paint, dance and just create again. A few months ago I stumbled across a word that keeps showing itself in places and it is my word for 2022… Elysian, which means divine inspiration. It’s a unique word that could double as a name. I love how it sounds but what I love most is that there is something magical about a word that means something different to each of us who uses it. The Divine inspires us all in a unique way. I thank you, Radleigh, for sharing your gifts and your inspiration. Wishing you many blessings for 2022.
My word for 2022 is Commitment!
For you Radleigh may I suggest: Clarity
So, pretend you have creativity, and self-care, and know that you you felt motivated and you accomplished a great deal, and recognize that you had fun along the way. Having all that, how do you feel? What if that feeling was your word for the year?
Balance; balance is what my inner self is putting out there for me. Hi Rad,, I’m new to this idea of obtaining a word for the year. I have 3, we’ll, I gave 1 away, I have 2 sets of your cards.
Arch Angel Zadkiel-Balance.
Found you on Gaia while watching Regina. To me your the real deal and highly recommend you for my granddaughter Elena, who is 13 already seeking truth.
Much love, have an awesome 2022
My word for 2022 is “Grace!”
A wonderful word for you may be: “Harmony”
Anticipation is my word, and you can use it too, if you like. I anticipate a marvelous, miraculous year filled with so much good and love that it overflows to everyone, everywhere.
HAPPINESS; is also my word, because mother earth is now shifting to happiness. To say; Gaia shift to happiness now
everyday this 2022 will assist with the shifting of earth .
I was wondering where you had moved after seeing the desert like scape in your background. Welcome to California! I think your word should be “surf”. It means skimming over the water, mastering the turbulence below while knowing there is a magical, earth sustaining world under the surface and also the sparkly sunshine through water droplets above. It also signifies movement…which is what we are constantly doing. Mastering balance as we joyously speed along our ocean of life!
Hi Rad I think the word for u is ReCreate / Rebuild
Giving time to the things , people n projects that got left out or neglected in the past year 2020
Everything and everyone prospers me now. I prosper everything and everyone now.
Catherine Ponder Quote
I know we all need this. I got a quote instead of one word. Thanks for all that you do.
Merry Christmas, Radleigh.
The words that come to mind when reading your blog are Manifest, Breathe, and/or Fly.
My word for the year is Sparkle.
I know you’ll find the most perfect word for you.
Sending much love and gratitude for all you share with the world. May2022 be a year full of blessings for you and yours. Happy New Year!
Vibrant
Hi Radleigh, how about Freedom for your word. Freedom to be you, freedom to new beginnings, Freedom to make everything fun. Thank you so much for you! I am debating my word, pondering on Action or Fearless. I wish everyone an amazing 2022!
The word should be “Playfull”. Mine is “Believe”
Manifest encompasses so much! A great word! Happy 2022!
EASY….I wish everyone ‘EASY’
Trust. The Divine ALWAYS has our backs. Happy 2022!
“Harmony” a great word.
Everything is in balance, like beautiful music, which uplifts us and makes us want to move our body.
I am choosing Harmony for myself too.
Harmonious blessings to you and you for 2022
I thought I had my word for 2022 but realized that it didn’t sound like fun, and I have to have some fun or it won’t work for me. I had chosen Commitment. At the start of 2021, I was moving toward my goals and feeling good. Then the urgent things in life took center stage and the important things got pushed to the side. I like the suggested word Intention but I think I am going to choose Success. It feels more joyful than Commitment. In your tarot reading for this last week of the year you said, ” May 2022 be fabulous”. Maybe Fabulous is your word. I enjoy your energy and joy!
How about joyful connection! I know, two words but I think this describes you Radleigh. Or at least, it describes the way you come across to me. I follow you because of the awesomeness you teach but also because your radiate joy!
Happy New year with many blessings to come! So I love GRACE so we move through 2022 with ease and grace.
My second one is Be. As we as Be just let what ever Be become, a positive or negative experience it will just be. Be in the moment, Be authentic, Be Amazing. I think that’s my one for the new year.❤️
Shine – shine your light
Shine your way.
Shine because to illuminate your soul, life, path. Even the word when you say it makes you think of happiness, joy, love. And the world needs to shine right now.
I am new to this. I have never heard about picking a name before. The last few years have really been tough with an illness, chemo and loosing my husband. Any help or pointing me in the right direction would be wonderful.
Everyone please have a blessed 2022.
What about exuberance? With ‘glitter filled’ in front if needed. I may even borrow that one for myself after a few dark nights of the soul in 2021 here. Thank you for sharing your gifts with joy and love ❤️
Hi Radleigh
A word for 2022 Creation

Creation of fun
Creation of accomplishment
Creation of motivation as you are having fun and accomplishing balance and self care
I’m thinking my word for 2022 is seeking
I’m looking to learn ,grow and self care .
Happy 2022
Nicole
Hello beautiful Radleigh , my word is Abundance your very welcome to share it . Why ? Because there is always enough to go around .
I think the only word that’s appropriate is “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious“
It has always incorporated many special things
Love you Radleigh ❤️
Radleigh, I have two words for 2022; Release and Renew! Frustrating times including some illness and COVID for Christmas, have me giving much thought to those words. Knowing the Angels are here to support me in my weaker moments, I am releasing the Frustrating and negative thinking that seems to accompany illness. I am renewing my thinking and my goals to positive and doable objectives. I am already Certified as an Angel Guide and I know for certain they will and have never let me down. Radleigh, you are my Earth Angel and I so look forward to seeing and listening to you. I am old enough to be you momma and I would adopt you if I could.
When I read this , the word ‘love’ jumped out at me! We all seem to be in need of self-love these days, and it is only with love in our hearts, for ourselves and others that magic and true change can happen
Actualize or implement. You know what you want. Just do it!
Dianne in SC – I think ACCEPTANCE is great! Because the world as we used to know it has changed forever! Thank you, Radleigh for all the wonderful things you teach us. Waiting to hear what’s next for 2022! Happy New Year to all xx
I HAVE THE
COURAGE
TO BE THE
HAPPIEST,
HEALTHIEST
VERSION
OF MYSELF.
( this just popped up in my memories) encompasses everything!
Possibilities! And just to get you in the swing of the word, sing the tune from Cinderella “impossible things are happening every day!”
I already have all your deck’s lol and I love them all.
Trust and Cherish came to mind, Trust that the universe knows what it’s doing that it has our backs and that we have a support crew around us. Cherish yourself and your loved ones which then ties in nicely with 2022 as it’s a 6 year, love and the family, that says a lot to me. Good words have been suggested to you so I trust you come up with a word for your 2022. All that’s left is for me to wish you all a very Merry New Year, may 2022 be the best one yet filled with health, fun, laughter, love and blessings……….from Australia
My word is Connection, because I have let go of old connections and am purposely making new and better connections.
May I suggest for you, dear Angel-boy—Hope.
for Radleigh and the world, 2022 may our dreams come true. Reni from Australia
Joy ✨⭐✨⭐✨
Hey Radleigh, in a previous blog post, you said you were very future-oriented and wanted to be more in the ‘now’. So with this in mind, plus this current blog post, I think a word that is pretty much all-encompassing is ‘Presence’ or ‘Now’. In being intensely present, being one with now, one with life – not being mired in your past or anxious about your future – you’ll find surrender, enlightenment, joy, peace and balance.
In the words of Eckhart Tolle, ‘As soon as you honor the present moment, all unhappiness and struggle dissolve, and life begins to flow with joy and ease. When you act out the present-moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love – even the most simple action.’
I’ve been leaning towards “now” for the very reasons you mentioned.
