My mother had a younger sister who was like another mother to me. I was crazy about her. She was funny, talented, and very wise. Little tidbits of wisdom that she would share have stayed with me my entire life.
I remember once worrying about something that might (or might not) happen in the future. I don’t even remember now what I was fretting about because it’s been decades ago, but I do remember what her response to my anxiety was. She said “Radleigh, if we could see 5 years into the future, it would scare us to death.”
Her point was about perspective. Over a 5-year period we generally change a lot. If you showed me what my life was going to be like in 2026, I might be startled because I don’t have the context and perspective to see how I personally would’ve grown to be ready for where I will be in my life. So, what wouldn’t shock me or worry me at all in 2026 might completely unnerve me in 2021.
This whole concept came flying back to me today when I was making notes about the past Christmas season. You probably don’t know this about me, but I am a copious note taker. I make notes after major holidays, vacations, and other significant events. I just find it makes life better for me. For example, every year I read my Holiday Notes right around Thanksgiving. I’m amazed at the things that I had forgotten. These notes are sage advice from me to me. They can include everything from “Don’t make that recipe again. It was awful.” to “Your time management was WAY off base during Christmas. Don’t do that again.”
This morning as I was updating my notes from Christmas 2020, I was struck by how shocked I would’ve been if I had known in January 2020 what the world would be like by March 2020. And in that moment, I was just a little bit afraid.
What if the notes I’m typing now will be read by a Radleigh who has been through just as many earth-shattering, and unimaginable experiences in 2021 as I had been through in 2020. That’s when my aunt’s words came back to me.
Context, perspective, and the foolishness of entertaining fear about what may (or may not) come.
I also reminded myself that 2020 had just as many unimaginable good things in it for me as it had challenging things.
The best thing we can do for ourselves is always to set our sights to the future we want to have. And because of that, I have created a new, 4-week course called A Tarot New Year. I am very excited about this class that is designed to use tarot, guardian angels, and the archangels to help you have a magical 2021. The course starts in week 1 by releasing any PTSD or lingering, negative attachments you might have to the experiences of 2020. Then we go straight into getting clarity about what you want to create in 2021 and the ways that tarot and the angels can help you to make those dreams a reality.
You can find out all about the course by going Here!
But whether my new course is perfect for you or not, remember… you are going to grow and evolve and become a better person in 2021 – just as you did in 2020. Fretting about what may come won’t get you anywhere you want to go. It’s a wasteful use of your spiritual and emotional energy to be in fear of the future.
Instead, imagine what you may have previously considered to be an unimaginable future that will bring you joy. And keep your thoughts and feelings on that.
Happy New Year everyone!
~Radleigh
