I used to know someone who had a cute nickname for me. He used to call me “the pragmatic prophet.” I liked it not because I identified with the word “prophet” (I don’t) but because – loosely said – it represented the two sides of my brain. I am deeply spiritual, but I am also very pragmatic. You might think these two would tend to duke it out in my mind, but honestly, they like each other. They get along.
One of the times where I am most aware of the two sides cooperating, is when my faith that something good will happen might be seen as irrational to someone else. I was going to call this blog “The Power of Unshakeable Faith” but I’m pragmatic enough to know that most people would either consider my unwavering belief that things tend to work out as either admirable or foolish.
Here’s how the two sides of my brain talk to one another:
Pragmatic Rad (PR): Well, that didn’t go as planned.
Spiritual Rad (SR): No, but there has to be a reason for it and it will be okay.
PR: Hm. You’re sure?
SR: Absolutely. 100%.
PR: I’m playing scenarios over here and most of them don’t look so great.
SR: I know. Thank you for always looking out for us. But what’s the alternative? Settle in to expecting the worse? How does that help us?
PR: Being prepared helps us.
SR: Okay. So, you’ve got a backup plan. Cool. But I’m staying on the side of faith. This all means something. It’s all going to be okay. I just know it.
PR: Alright. I’ll go along. You’re right that expecting the best is better than wallowing in expecting the worst. So, I’m in. But I’m watching.
SR: You watch. I’ll pray.
There are parts of my existence that almost feel to me as though the Divine said “Well. You chose a wild ride. But here, you’re going to need faith or you’ll get off course. Take an extra helping.” Having that unshakeable (irrational) determination that the Universe loves me and that everything will work out is a gift. I’m a very humble person, but that aspect of myself blows my mind. I think that’s why when Pragmatic Rad talks to Spiritual Rad, Pragmatic Rad always concedes. Practical Rad is in awe of that.
The Law of Attraction is a concept that says that what we focus our thoughts upon is what we will attract into our lives. It puts the power to manifest a happy outcome or a challenging outcome smack dab into our own hands. Whether you believe in the Law of Attraction or not, it still stands to reason that holding hope and faith in your heart for the future is going to make you infinitely happier than holding on to doubt and despair. Even if things don’t wind up going the way you had hoped.
Faith is powerful. Whether it’s unshakeable or irrational, it’s a super power. Make it yours.
Angel blessings,
~Radleigh
Hope, not fear.
For many in the US (and around the world) this week is one filled with anxiety and worry. Astrologically, the energy is wonky and many people’s fears are at a heightened level because of world events that feel super-charged by retrograde planets and unhappy aspects in...
Your Unique Spiritual Super Power
For many, many years I had a radio show called Magical Things with Radleigh Valentine. (Hay House Radio officially went off the air last November.) The majority of that show was me giving readings to callers as well as those who posted questions on Facebook and...
Energetic Weather Report for October 25th – 31
Last week’s Energetic Weather Report really told a story. This week’s feels like Chapter 2 of that same tale. A lot of energy is being expended trying to manage multiple tasks indicating the need for more play. There’s some indecision but also a lot of progress....
What exactly is a miracle?
This has been a year of spiritual growth for me. I do not talk about this much, but my relationship with my father was not a positive thing. I had done a lot of work on that over the years, but I also came into 2020 thinking “enough is enough” and that it was time for...
Energetic Weather Report for October 18th – 24th
This week’s Energetic Weather Report was a very cohesive story from beginning to end! An unexpected piece of information sets the wheels of your mind to spinning. Lots of introspection leads to plans that you set in motion. There’s a lot of passion and excitement in...
Well said, Dear Radleigh! I SO know that Divine Order is always working and that’s call FAITH! Thank you for your inspiration!
❤❤❤!!!
Hello Radleigh,
There’s one beautiful word that fits that bill to a tee.
It’s “Pronoia”, the opposite of paranoia. It is the positive counterpart of paranoia. It is the delusion (or so says the definition) that others think well of one. Actions and the products of one’s efforts are thought to be well received and praised by others.
You can’t go wrong there, buddy.
Namaste, Tricks are for Kids.
Love this reading for the last of March and the first of April!
I can see it for my week it speaks to me!
And I also have what I call a very practical side and a side that believes in Miracles!
