Back in 2018, I was in Europe with my friends Kyle Gray and Rebecca Campbell presenting at the Engelkongress event that happens each year. Kyle and Rebecca were talking about what their “words” for 2018 had been and what they thought would be their words for 2019.
My response was “Word? What word? What are you talking about? You have a word for the year? I want a word!”
Since that time, I have come to realize that choosing a word to represent a particular year is a common practice. But honestly, I had not heard of such a thing until late in 2018 when Kyle and Rebecca brought it up in front of me.
I loved the idea! And so for 2019, I chose the word “Shine!” Not only for myself, but also for my students to help them learn how to shine in their life! I feel good about that word and I think I did okay brining it into reality. In 2019 I traveled a lot, (10 cities in 4 countries). We launched a new video course and Hay House asked me for no less than 4 new products plus requested proposals for 2 more on top of that.
I think that counts as a shiny year.
However, next year is going to be very different. My editorial deadlines for all of those products largely happen in 2020. On top of that, I am in the planning stage for a video course with my good friend Dougall Fraser, and some super secret projects will come to life as well.
Because of all of this, the word I have chosen for 2020 is unshakeable.
I have always been willing to admit that I have to keep the concepts of “blessed” and “overwhelmed” clear in my head. When deadlines approach, (especially if I’m on the road) I have a human tendency to forget blessed and just go to feeling overwhelmed. If I am to accomplish everything we already have planned for 2020-2022, I really won’t have that luxury anymore. I need to keep my focus clearly on the blessed part and dismiss the overwhelmed feelings. In short, I have to remain unshakeable.
I have come to deeply embrace the concept of words that set the tone for a coming year. It helps keep me focused and on point. So here’s my question for you…
What is your word for 2020? What will you choose for yourself as your guiding Light as we enter into a whole new decade?
Sending you angels of epiphany for this magical exercise and wishing you a fabulous New Year full of dreams come true!
Angel blessings,
~Radleigh
The Great Lime Catastrophe
The only fruit tree I recall having had (that actually produced fruit) was an apple tree on the property where I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. I hated that tree. It dropped crates of apples onto the ground where they would start to rot in the summer sun. Guess...

My Dearest Radleigh,
When you mention the “word for the year”, my inner self shouted “EXPLORE!” (and I do mean shouted!) I thought “What sort of word for the new year and decade is that?” As the day went on and I pondered that particular word, I began to realize that it was refering to things that I never had external or internal permission to “explore”!
So….this is an amazing and wonderful time that is dawning for me! Permission has been granted and the expedition is under way!
I appreciate the “pick a word” reminder!

Thank you so much Blessings for 2020✨
This concept came to me during my first year working with a doctor in 2015. She introduced the concept of a word a year. So each year I have done the same as you have started. 2018 my word was judgement (realizing it, catching myself and shifting), 2019 connection (connections with my clients, family, colleagues, etc.). My word for 2020 came to me during meditation two weeks ago – Curiosity (curiosity in everything I do and all areas of my life). Good luck with unshakeable. I know what you are bringing into this world will be powerful. Happy New Year!
My word for the new year is…EXCITEMENT. May your new year be absolutely awesome all year long xxx
